Project Summary

The proposed 900MW Gateway Energy Centre will be on a 28 acre plot of land designated for industrial development within the London Gateway Logistics Park. The electricity generated by the plant will be used by the Port and Logistics Park and be sent to the existing high voltage National Grid transmission system. The power station will have an expected operational life of 35 years.

Natural gas for the project will come from a connection to the National Gas Transmission System. A new underground gas pipeline and electrical connection that connect Gateway Energy Centre to the existing gas and electrical distribution networks respectively will be necessary. Both electrical and gas connections will be subject to separate planning applications.
