The proposed location for the Gateway Energy Centre in the south east corner of the London Gateway Logistics Park was selected to minimise visual impact. Modern gas-fired power stations are less than half the size of coal-fired power stations of equivalent output.

The plant’s final designs will be influenced by the findings of the Environmental Statement and will complement the design of the London Gateway Logistics Park.

It is anticipated that the plant will comprise two gas turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators and one or two steam turbines to create electricity. There will be two main stacks from which there will be no visible plumes under normal operations as well as an air cooled condenser.

Artist’s impressions of the proposed development are available which give an indication of the project’s appearance from various viewpoints.
